In general about registration forms
Practically most of the complex Joomla! components have an own registration form, to can get the additional details of the users, like shipping address for webshops, or date of birth for community sites. Usually these components properly work together with the Joomla user management system, so the default values will store in Joomla user tables, and the additional details will be in the component's own structure. This sounds so simple, but it can cause headache for the developers, especially who would like to create an all-in-one registration component, because custom forms also have custom validation methods, what necessary to process the filled out form for successful registration. But in spite of these difficulties, the Improved AJAX Login now can show the registration forms of several components:
- JomSocial
- Virtuemart
- HikaShop

How does it work?
All of the components above has the opportunity to add/remove additional fields to their own registration forms. When we were designing the popup support of these components, we would like to make it as simple as it can be, so the previously created and enabled fields in your component will be selectable in the Improved Login's Live form manager. Then if you decided to also ask for the user's date of birth, just simply navigate to your component (e.g. JomSocial) and add a new field. Of course a link also helps you to easily add a new field in the form manager.
