Introducing the New AJAX Dock Cart for Virtuemart 1.1 and 2

In the past 4 months the dockart has been updated so many times, that finally I must let you know what's new and what's changed.

What is AJAX Dock Cart after all??

If you ever seen a Apple computer, you may have noticed, that the operating system has a nice dock in the bottom of the screen, wich is a quick launch bar for applications. Dock Cart is using the idea of Apple and provides a powerful shopping cart for Virtuemart and Joomla. The power of AJAX technology improves the user experience. The Virtuemart 2 event

Balint was always aware of the fact, that Virtuemart 2 will come out soon, and the dockart was only working for 1.1 and Joomla 1.5. After hiring me, he showed me everything about AJAX Dock Cart and I could join him in the development proces. We were working together to make Dock Cart more flexible and nevertheless compatible with Virtuemart 2.

What's New?

Full compatibility

The new version of AJAX Dock Cart is fully compatible with Joomla 1.5, 1.7 and Virtuemart 1.1 and 2.

Faster Ajax Calls

The old Dock Cart was using a different algorithm for handling the cart content and cart actions. The new version is about twice as fast!

Flexible dock

If the number of items reaches the edge of the browser window it autoatically starts to shrink! You can set the minimum size of the icons to shrink to. If the icon size reaches the minimum limit, the cart automatically closes itself!

Joomfish Support

The new version supports native translations and also works well with Joomfish component.

Smart handling of mobile devices

AJAX Dock Cart is not working on some mobile devices, but alternatively you can choose another module to be shown. (by default this is the Virtuemart Default Cart module)

More intelligent AJAX page loading

The old version included some basic ajax page loader, wich allowed the customer to browse the products from the cart without reloading the page. The new version can handle the browser back and forward buttons as well! (works even in IE7!!)
